Release of the first national standard in the field of cold chain logistics for fresh edible mushrooms
Recently, the national standard "GB/T 42482-2023 Technical Specifications for Packaging, Storage, and Cold Chain Transportation of Fresh Tremella" led by the Agricultural Engineering Technology Research Institute of Fujian Academy of Agricultural Sciences has been approved and released. This is the first national standard in the field of cold chain logistics for fresh edible mushrooms in China, filling the gap in national standards for fresh tremella preservation in China.
China is a major producer of tremella, with Gutian County producing over 380000 tons of tremella last year, accounting for over 90% of global production. Traditional sales of tremella are mainly based on dried products. In recent years, with the improvement of consumption level and the demand brought by the deep processing market, the proportion of fresh tremella has been increasing year by year.
Fresh tremella has a moisture content of up to 90% and is prone to decay and mold, resulting in the production of 'rice yeast acid' toxin. 'Rice yeast acid' is heat-resistant, and conventional cooking is difficult to destroy its toxicity. After ingestion by the human body, it can cause liver and kidney damage, organ failure, and death. '.
At present, the national standards related to tremella are all about cultivation or dried tremella processing, and there is a lack of national guiding technical standards for fresh tremella. The national standard "General Operating Procedures for Packaging and Cold Chain Transportation of Fresh Fruits and Vegetables" is also not applicable to fresh tremella. Due to the lack of unified standards and high arbitrariness in the post harvest preservation, packaging, and storage and transportation processes of fresh tremella sales enterprises, there are significant food hygiene and quality safety hazards in this industry. Therefore, it is necessary to accelerate the filling of relevant national standard gaps.
In recent years, expert workstations and other units in the preservation and processing positions of the modern edible mushroom industry technology system in Fujian Province have carried out technical research on the cold storage and preservation of fresh tremella, preliminarily integrating the cold chain logistics integration technology for reducing damage and ensuring quality of fresh tremella, and accelerating the development of standards on this basis.
In January 2021, the Secretariat of the National Tremella Standardization Working Group held a meeting on standard formulation, establishing a standard formulation working group and a standard drafting group. The Agricultural Engineering Technology Research Institute of the Provincial Academy of Agricultural Sciences has been designated as the leading unit for standard formulation, with a total of 13 industry, academia, and research institutions collaborating and participating nationwide. In December of the same year, the standard drafting group completed the draft for soliciting opinions on the standard. In June 2022, the standard drafting group requested the National Tremella Standardization Working Group to review the standard draft for review.
It is reported that this national standard is applicable to the packaging, storage, and cold chain transportation of fresh tremella cultivated with substitute materials. Based on experimental research results, production practice experience, research results, and literature review, this standard has determined six main technical indicators for this document, including fresh tremella pretreatment, pre cooling, packaging, storage, labeling, and cold chain transportation. It will be officially implemented from July 1st.
The formulation of standards is conducive to promoting standardized packaging, storage, and transportation of fresh tremella nationwide, ensuring that it is not contaminated by toxins during the post harvest process, thereby ensuring product quality, ensuring quality and safety, and promoting the healthy development of the tremella industry
